Jay was raised in a feline-friendly household in Northern California before leaving home to study film and digital media. He attended his first film festival in 2002, and has organized dozens of festivals in the Bay Area since 2008, including this very one you're reading about. He lives in Portland with his wife Alex and cat Mochi.
